End the embargo on Cuba

The September 14 is the deadline for renewal of U.S. economic sanctions against Cuba.

U.S. President Barack Obama has two choices: to renew or suspend the sanctions and thus take an important step toward lifting the embargo on the island in 1962.

The consequences of half a century but have been tremendous, especially for the Cuban population. The blockade prevents Cuba's government to import staples and endangers the health of millions of people.

Children who suffer from heart ailments and serious diseases such as cancer suffer from lack of medical equipment and medication. Even the entry of medical supplies as basic as syringes is limited by the embargo. 37.5 percent of children under three years are anemic because they lack nutritional products in schools, hospitals and day care centers.

The embargo does not relieve the Cuban government of their obligations to respect, protect and fulfill human rights of all Cubans and Cuban. And that includes free prisoners of conscience remain in detention.

But America can not ignore the devastating effects of sanctions on the people of the island. You look where you look, the blockade against Cuba is immoral and should be lifted.

not wait any longer: ask President Obama to lead the lifting of the embargo on Cuba . We only have 10 days to convince Obama that change is necessary.
